Mike Shannon is funny. The Frank Gehry-designed Ballpark Village is awful. Put them together and you get this RFT article.
Also, who would have ever suspected that Mike Shannon knows how to send emails.

Wow. I'm completely speechless. I thought that ballpark village was going to be shops and condos. Places to eat and shop and hang out before or after the game. Red brick buildings in the classic St. Louis style. Instead we are getting some bendy, shiny, and irregular geometric buildings, anchored by an opera house and a literary archive? I'm sure I don't know the first thing about revitalizing this city's downtown.. but how in the hell is this not a disaster?
Oh, and Shannon's emails were hilarious. I have some serious new respect for the man.
