Yesterday, Jeremy and I were recruited to bowl as replacements for our department's bowling team. Jeremy did pretty well, with a 200+ game followed by a game where he struggled to break 100. My results were similar, except I didn't have the great 200+ game. I did have a final game that was good enough to give me the lead, but it paled in comparison to the other top games. Hopefully this will be the last time I'm asked to bowl in a competitive setting.
In other news, I've been reading quite a bit about aspect-oriented programming. I'm a bit late to this game, but I'm pretty excited by aspects. It seems a lot like I can greatly reduce some of the repetitive code that I write at work using aspects, so I've been pushing for a POC at work. It looks like I'll get my way, which is pretty cool. However, aspects don't seem to have a great deal of support out here. A lot of people are greatly concerned with having aspects modify the bytecode and the fact that the java code won't be representative of what is actually happening in the program. When I try to sell people on aspects I feel like I'm trying to sell a compiler to a group of assembly coders. They just don't get it. Their loss, I guess.
Finally, another non sequitur. If you're looking for a cheap red Bordeaux, I recommend Mouton Cadet. I had a bottle last weekend for $24 in a restaurant and it was pretty decent. It's the Rothchild's bottom-tier offering, and they don't grow their own grapes for it, but they do control the fermenting process. The bottle I had was a bit weak in the nose -- truthfully, it had almost no nose, but it did have a nice, distinct flavor. Anyway, if you see it on a menu you might want to give it a try.

I'm a fan of AspectJ and we've used to do some unusual things, mostly Feature Oriented Programming.
I'm also a fan of Trader Joe's label for Merlot -- cheap and not too bad at all.
