David is an occasional blogger, software engineer, Nintendo fanboy, liberal, news magazine addict, voracious TiVo user, and bibliophile. He was born in St. Louis, grew up in southern Indiana, and returned to St. Louis to attend Washington University. He hasn't managed to escape yet. He's a fan of free wine tastings, too many tv shows to name, and eating out. David makes his living developing web applications used internally by his employer. He doesn't blog about work because he's heard too many stories about that causing workplace troubles. There's more on the about page. |

A full JavaOne update will come soon, but I wanted to let all of you know that at the JavaOne After Hours "Bash" tonight I saw Dennis Miller do a full stand up routine and a long concert by Camp Freddy along with Gina Gershon, one of the girls from "The Donnas," one of the guys from "Third Eye Blind," and Mikey Einziger and Brandon Boyd of Incubus. I also got involved in some kind of argument between two Chinese ladies at a restaurant that we were trying to eat at in Chinatown. We couldn't figure out why they were hollering at each other and pointing at us, so we left to find another restaurant.

He was part of James Gosling's Keynote on Thursday. He demoed an unmanned plane that uses Java to fly the plane in real time. And one of his slides had a big WashU logo on it.
