Blatantly stolen from Romenesko:

Dems accuse GOP of punishing Post-Dispatch for editorial
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
House Republicans in Missouri voted Wednesday to repeal a sales tax exemption currently allowed for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and Kansas City Star. Democrats say the move is retaliation for Sunday's Post-Dispatch "House of Hypocrites" editorial that criticized some GOPers for cuts in Medicaid eligibility. The paper said: "Republicans argued that there just isn't enough money for the state to pay Medicaid and children's health insurance. The cost of their own state-paid coverage apparently didn't faze them."

I love Romenesko! I've never known of a non-journalism person reading Poynter...

Journalists assessing journalism, what's not to like?

Also, everyone should read the P-D editorial linked in the article. In particular, the PDF link at the bottom of the article have a useful sidebar that didn't make it into the online version of the editorial. I just can't understand why anyone would want to take health insurance away from kids. And whoever came up with this angle at the P-D is a genius.

I was shocked when I heard this story on NPR last week. Who do thesse people think they are to play such games, and how little they must think of the voting population's intelligence.

I couldn't agree with you more, Ron. It's crazy to cut medical insurance for children and even crazier to impose a tax on publications that expose you.
