David is an occasional blogger, software engineer, Nintendo fanboy, liberal, news magazine addict, voracious TiVo user, and bibliophile. He was born in St. Louis, grew up in southern Indiana, and returned to St. Louis to attend Washington University. He hasn't managed to escape yet. He's a fan of free wine tastings, too many tv shows to name, and eating out. David makes his living developing web applications used internally by his employer. WashU got some good press this week. This week's I, Cringley column said that "Washington University is every bit on the same level as a Stanford or UC Berkeley." I'm not sure that I fully agree with that statement, but that's not going to keep me from repeating it to someone the next time I have to explain that WashU is in St. Louis, not Washington State or the District of Columbia.

Right, we just don't have the weather that Stanford or UC Berkeley have -- but our master's students are working on that.
