Things are getting back to normal. Colorize is off until our host rebuilds php with image support and we're still waiting for the subdomains to propagate, but hopefully everything else is getting back to normal.

I'm working on getting the subdomains back up. I have an idea about what's wrong, but it might not work. Regardless, I have a tech support call in, so hopefully they'll be up soon.

Well, things are coming together. mt is up and running on the new server. I just need to adjust a few db paths and figure out why the subdomains I created aren't working and everything will be done. If you find something that isn't working, leave a comment and michael or I will look into it.

As soon as I finish this post I'm going to get started on the final phase of our web host switch. I'll download all the files from the current server and upload them to our hosts new dedicated server. Then, sometime during the beginning of next week, he'll switch the DNS records so that everyone finds the new site.

My end of the transition will be almost unnoticed, but I'm not sure how transparent his end of things will be. Anyone, the next time you see a post here, you'll be looking at our new site.

I still have a mysql databases to transfer over, the archives haven't yet been restored, and I need to fix the comment template, but most things are now back to normal. Of course, as soon as we get this up and running, we're going to have to move it. Our web host is moving to a dedicated server over the weekend, so there will probably be a bit of downtime when we are transferring files and databases to our new server. But this should be a much more structured and transparent move than the last one.

Okay, things are a bit confused here at work. My current assignment, due today, is to write an API that another intern can call to get access to a database that contains information on different E-- branch locations. All things considered, this shouldn't be too hard of a task. It involves doing a few things I haven't done before, like deploying web services in Java, but that shouldn't really be an issue. What is an issue is the fact that I have been instructed to leverage existing classes as much as possible, but in the two weeks I've had this assignment, I've never actually been given access to any of these existing classes. I do have copies of them, but they import so many other packages that I can't use them without full access. So I've spent the last few days writing code against code that I don't have access to. Which means I haven't compiled or tested anything. A pretty scary thing. I just hope it all works when I finally get a chance to run it. (If I ever get a chance to run it.)

It looks like the DNS has propagated. At least I can see the new site. The past few weeks have been very busy with work and this server issue. We also have some new furniture in our apartment.

If anyone is looking for a good restaurant, I recommend fuzio's. It's in the Galleria and they specialize in fusion pasta dishes. So you can have barbwire pasta with a southwest flavor or rigatoni with hints of Chinese cooking. It's very good.
