David is an occasional blogger, software engineer, Nintendo fanboy, liberal, news magazine addict, voracious TiVo user, and bibliophile. He was born in St. Louis, grew up in southern Indiana, and returned to St. Louis to attend Washington University. He hasn't managed to escape yet. He's a fan of free wine tastings, too many tv shows to name, and eating out. David makes his living developing web applications used internally by his employer. He doesn't blog about work because he's heard too many stories about that causing workplace troubles. There's more on the about page. |

Apparently the subspace bug is contagious. I'm sitting in the ACM lounge right now, and all three computers are in use by subspace players. Comments like "Charlie, I've attached to you," "boom, baby," and "took you out" are flying left and right. We're thinking about downloading the server and getting it up on the WashU network. And I still think ACM needs to have a gaming contest using subspace. It's a pretty easy game to learn, so we could just have everyone play around on it for 30 minutes or so, and then reset the scores and start the match. Or we could randomly put people on teams for capture the flag, and all the players from the winning team would advance to the next round. Or any number of other scenarios.
Anyway, since I mentioned ACM, the second ACM programming contest of the semester is this Friday from 2- 4 pm in the CEC SPARC lab. You should be there. If you know how to code. The problem this week is, I think, a bit easier, so everyone should be able to finish it. And on Thursday is an ACM general meeting, where I'm sure lots of cool things will be discussed. You should be there, too.
