I wonder if this means I should curtail my weekly trips to the Joy Luck Chinese Buffet?

My dad had some friends with whom he used to go to New York City to, of all things, hit golf balls on Wall Street in the middle of the night. They had had some Chinese food earlier, and one of my dad's friends practically passed out in the middle of the road. He ended up sleeping for something like six hours in their van.

The point to all of this is that he had a horrible reaction to MSG (or so my dad says). But I think the use of it in Asian restaurants in the U.S. has decreased significantly because of all the research done on it in the '70s. But I think there are other reasons why you shouldn't spend so much time at Joy Luck, especially if you have any history of heart disease in your family.
