David is an occasional blogger, software engineer, Nintendo fanboy, liberal, news magazine addict, voracious TiVo user, and bibliophile. He was born in St. Louis, grew up in southern Indiana, and returned to St. Louis to attend Washington University. He hasn't managed to escape yet. He's a fan of free wine tastings, too many tv shows to name, and eating out. David makes his living developing web applications used internally by his employer. He doesn't blog about work because he's heard too many stories about that causing workplace troubles. There's more on the about page. |

Well, today was a big waste of time. Joe and I were supposed to meet in the graders office at 11am to work on our sysadmin project, but when we showed up the office was locked. We called WUPD and asked then to send an officer over to unlock the room, but the officer didn't show up until after 11:30.
Sadly, once we got into the lab, things just kept going wrong for us. We need root access to Carbon and Chlorine to work on our project, but the password our professor gave us didn't work. So Joe set to work trying to break into the computers. He went down to his office and came back with his "break-in kit" which consisted of a floppy disk and a CD. Sadly, Joe's first floppy disk appeared to be corrupt, so he bought a new one in the CEC help center. But the second floppy didn't work either, and Joe gave up on his hacking attempts. Total elapsed time since arriving at 11am? 98 minutes. Amount of work accomplished? None.
