David is an occasional blogger, software engineer, Nintendo fanboy, liberal, news magazine addict, voracious TiVo user, and bibliophile. He was born in St. Louis, grew up in southern Indiana, and returned to St. Louis to attend Washington University. He hasn't managed to escape yet. He's a fan of free wine tastings, too many tv shows to name, and eating out. David makes his living developing web applications used internally by his employer. He doesn't blog about work because he's heard too many stories about that causing workplace troubles. There's more on the about page. |

Chris sent me a link to a really, really funny article about the mysterious "Monkey Man" who has been biting people while they sleep on their terraces during power outages. The thing is, the authorities don't know if the "Monkey Man" is a man or a monkey. They have two sketches, in one he looks more like a monkey, in the other he looks more like a man.
I spent my day creating two different designs for the intranet site I've been working on all week. My efforts are really hampered by the fact that the only graphics program I have is Microsoft Image Composer. Among other things, it has problems with transparency and making unaliased edges. I've come to hate it. I'm hoping I can scrounge up a copy of Photoshop, or at least persuade someone to buy Paint Shop Pro, which will be more than adequate for my needs and costs 1/5 of the price for Photoshop. I'll probably download the evaluation version of Paint Shop Pro tomorrow. Hopefully it will make my life a bit easier.
Only one more day of work this week. This makes me happy, not because I don't like work, but because I have been staying up too late every night this week, and have only been getting about 6 or 6.5 hours of sleep this week. I plan to sleep a lot this weekend.
